Zazzle versus Cafepress: T-shirts

*Disclaimer about both printing places: As long as your designs are set up within their shop, the copyright is their's until you take it back down..Basically this means they can use your image for the site or edit/reprint without your permission. Take some time to read through the fine print prior to printing. (Always pay attention to this kind of thing.. it's a huge deal to protect your intellectual property rights!)

ARGH PRINTING T-SHIRTS ONLINE.

I figured this is a general question for everyone trying to find a good Print-On-Demand resource... now that there are so many out there, I thought it would be nice to do a basic test. I'm ordering two shirts from both places on the same day.. it's currently 12:51PM Friday.

Moving on...

-Using a RGB tiff file from Photoshop CS3;
transparent background, more than 6 colors...
-300 dpi, about 5x7inches
-obviously not a "clean" design...

ZAZZLE:

Ladies Ringer T-shirt; (white) Adult XL
$19.95_base + $4.50_UPSshipping(5-10days no tracking) = 24.45

-Has a really indepth sizing chart.
-can pay with paypal ! (yay)
-30 day replacement/money back guarantee.
-got order confirmation to email after purchase
-Sunday at 5:30PM, got an email saying they've already shipped my order! Hooray for weekend workers...

CAFEPRESS:
Women's cap sleeve; (white) Adult L
$18.49_base + $5.00_economy(my profit) + $7.00_standardshipping(wow) = $30.75
wait.. what? I proceeded to check out and this is the quote:
$18.49_base + $5.25_S&H(7-9 days) = $23.74
Oh, they're tricky... the cheaper S&H is their economical shipping price. I like how it is more expensive than UPS from Zazzle...

-second item shipping price is +$0.50, which is nice.
-Has a really indepth sizing chart, categorized by shirt type.
Check out their shipping info here: https://www.cafepress.com/cp/info/help/index.aspx?page=shipping.aspx
-30 day money back guarantee
-got order confirmation to email immediately after purchase

I will update this post after I get something in the mail...

Additional Shirt review: (on buying, not creating... that's a whole different issue)

Shirt.Woot.com Shirts:
[pros]
-vivid colors, has a nice die cut look.
-because of the printing process, they can print on dark colors but...(see below)
-their darker color shirts are beautiful
-cheap on the first day of posting, duh (10-15$)
-comes fairly quickly in the mail.

[cons]
photos coming soon...
-Iron on transfer looking stuff. Light colors don't look as nice as dark...
-the creme shirt is basically see through (Now I know why people were whining when I chose that color on woot)
-Honestly I really hate the consistency of the ink. It's kind of crispy... but it's surviving the washes so far.

Mighty Mini Portfolio!

Click the squished thumbnails below to view an enlarged version!

These are a few selections from my work, mostly from my personal side projects. If you would like to visit some of my graphic and school related illustration work, please visit this link!!

The majority of the artwork seen here is a combination of hand done pencil or pen work along with digital coloring. A few out of the group are done solely on the computer. I find that being able to draw by hand makes my digital work much stronger. I value the traditional styles and techniques of real life drawings and painting, and put them into my stylized work.

In case you were wondering, evikted Rei is a strange pen name that I came up with a while back (probably 7 years ago in early highschool) . I choose to use this name when submitting my anime work, and go by my own name for my graphic work.
